Up, up, and away! Mr. Riley’s eighth-grade science students participated in the Tissue Paper Hot Air Balloon Challenge, a STEAM-driven event which brought science, technology, engineering, artistic design, and math into one major assignment.
Students were taught how to construct tissue paper balloons and the mechanics of how they fly, and were then tasked with engineering and constructing their own creations.
Several balloons sailed away into the wild blue yonder, including this year’s top performers “Plankton,” “Arnold Palmer’s Half & Half” and “Snow Globe.”
