When is the time to talk with your kids about alcohol? It’s never too early or too late. Research reveals that by ages 9-10, children have already learned from the media and families that there is “fun” associated with alcohol.
Please join us on Tuesday, October 27 from 8:15- 9:45 a.m. in the Middle School Community Room in Taylor Hall to hear from “Mr. Jim” McAuliffe, Cannon grandparent and Retired Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor. Mr. Jim will speak to Lower, Middle and Upper School parents about brain research, the disease of addiction, and the two biggest risk factors for addiction: family history and age of first use. Mr. Jim will discuss how to model healthy attitudes around alcohol and how to communicate with your children about your family history, values and expectations. Following his talk, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in break-out sessions led by Division Level Counselors.
