Forty children are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes each day in the United States—the equivalent of an entire classroom of students. Right here at Cannon, we have six students who deal with T1D each and every day. It is one of the most costly and chronic diseases, and children with T1D will never outgrow it.
Cannon School is proud to bring the JDRF Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes to campus for the first time on Friday, April 10. Today we kicked off the program with a fun assembly which included plenty of special guests, dancing, and speakers who gave us an idea of what it is like to live with this disease day in and day out. Students also watched a video which gave them some background about the disease. This video can be viewed here.
Each child is coming home today with information about the JDRF Walk, as well as donation envelopes. Dollars collected will be donated to JDRF and targeted towards funding new technologies to dramatically improve the treatment of T1D.
We thank you for your support of this worthy cause!
