The Science Olympiad team from Cannon School had the most successful tournament in seven years of competition Saturday, March 7, on the campus of NC Central University. The Upper School finished third in the C division and received a coveted bid to the state tournament, under the leadership of seniors Jessica Abel ’15 and Joanna Copio ’15. With numerous veterans returning to the team and a strong freshman class, Cannon won many C division events.
In the very competitive Middle School tournament, Cannon’s Division B team finished third as well. The junior varsity team has welcomed many new members to our Science Olympiad program. They finished the day with Cannon’s first win at the Junior Varsity B Division level.
The trophies for all divisions and medals for Middle School members are displayed in front of the library in the Snyder building. All fifty team members represented themselves well and demonstrated the adaptive expertise habits that Cannon values.
The State Science Olympiad tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 for both of the Middle and Upper School varsity teams, and will be held on the campus of North Carolina State University.
