*Carolyn Mitlehner (’16) was inducted into the Cannon School Chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts on Friday February 20, 2015. Carolyn has been dancing at Cannon School for five years and has participated in many performances and competitions. “ Carolyn is an awesome young lady, and I am happy to have her as a part of the Cannon School Chapter of NHSDA” , said Cannon School Dance Instructor Melissa McDaniel. The Cannon School Chapter of the Nation Honor Society for Dance Arts was chartered in 2013 and has inducted six members since its inception. Student membership in the NHSDA is awarded on the basis of points earned for meritorious work in dance that meet the honor society’s general guidelines. The prospective member’s demonstration of collaborative teamwork, motivation, and participation in the many aspects of dance is a factor in the determination of eligibility for membership. Students must accumulate 30 points before their application for membership is submitted. The primary mission of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) is to promote and honor outstanding dance achievement in middle and high school level students (11-18 years of age). Further, NHSDA hopes to encourage well-rounded dance artists to become leaders in their communities after high school graduation.
