Celebrating Our Students

One of the notable features in The Cupola is our Celebrating Our Students section. The Cupola is Cannon School’s weekly e-mail newsletter that keeps our community up-to-date on the latest news and events at Cannon. We receive many excellent stories about our students each week.

Here are just a few stories about our students’ accomplishments in academics, athletics, the arts, or community service. Every effort has been made to provide complete and accurate listings based on information available to the Office of Advancement. Share your news with us!

Grayson Herrera ’19 (pictured above) attended a field trip last week to the West Point Center for STEM Education with students from Stanford, Duke, and the NC School of Science and Mathematics.

Congratulations to Dom Pelucio ’16 who was selected to play in the 2014 National Assication for Music Education (NAfME) All-National Honor Symphony Orchestra. Dom joins 600 of the most talented high school musicians in the country in the orchestra after a competitive audition process. The student musicians will be lead by four of the U.S.’s prominent conductors and will perform at the Grand Ole Opry House in Tennessee on October 29.

Rohan Handa ’18 participated in a 14U National Baseball Team Tournament in Jupiter, FL over the summer. His performance was noticed by a number of scouts and baseball officials and he received an invitation to a 14U National Team Development Camp for training and preparing for the 15U National Team, which he attended in August.

Nick Reid ’15 is a member of the Gaston Young Guns. He is a competitive skeet, trap, and sporting clays shooter and he and his teammates give back to the community in many ways. Over the summer, the Young Guns invited a group of disabled people to one of their practices to learn how to safely handle a gun and how to shoot a registered round of skeet. Shooting from a chair or with a prosthetic has its challenges, but by the end of the evening everyone went away with a new understanding of themselves.
