A Celebration of Bright Futures

Crowd at BBF Celebration

More than 360 people enjoyed a celebration of bright futures at NASCAR Hall of Fame on Friday evening. If you did not attend the Building Bright Futures Celebration, or if you did and would like to see it again, we are pleased to share a recap of a surprise presentation that honored Head of School Matt Gossage.

In recognition of Matt’s passion for educating students and in gratitude for his tireless vision in moving Cannon School forward, Cannon’s Board of Trustees dedicated the Upper School Building as the Matthew E. Gossage Building. This honor means that at some future point, the Upper School Building will bear his name.

As Cannon School’s Board Chair Russ Andrews explained, “When Matt joined Cannon, he was charged with leading the school forward by combining the strengths of Cannon with the best new ideas and industry practices. All the while, he was careful to preserve the culture of Cannon, the sense of community that we’ve built here, and our mission to serve our students and help them develop and grow. Despite the financial crisis, Matt has been able to accomplish all these goals and help Cannon become a better place than he found it eight years ago. We look forward to his continued leadership.”

Matt shared, “Linda and I have never received an honor like this. I want to thank you for saying in such a clear and public way how much you value what we have done together as a school community over these last eight years. This has humbled me, and I will never, ever forget it.”
