You’re Invited: Town Hall Meetings about Athletics

Athletic Town Hall Meetings

Please plan to join one of our Town Hall Meetings hosted by Cannon School Athletics!

The Department of Athletics (head coaches, program directors, and staff) has been working this summer to discuss the vision and philosophy of Cannon Athletics among ourselves, with Cannon administrators, and some parents. In an effort to communicate this vision and philosophy to all parents, we will host three Town Hall meetings. We invite all Cannon parents, especially parents of children who plan to play a sport during the 2013-2014 school year, to attend one of the meetings. As academics, arts, and athletics are all key components of a Cannon education, we hope parents of all Cannon students will attend one of these meetings. (Please note, there will be no other parent meetings like these during the school year; these meetings will replace the seasonal parent meetings. Individual coaches, however, may still choose to meet with parents of respective teams.)

The meetings will be held:

  • Monday, July 29 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in Taylor Hall
  • Tuesday, August 6 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in Taylor Hall
  • Thursday, August 22 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in Taylor Hall

We have scheduled three meetings in order to accommodate your busy summer schedules, and hope that this maximizes the opportunity for every family to participate. Even if you do not have a child participating in Cannon Athletics, we hope you will attend.

During the meetings, we will spend time discussing our vision and philosophy, expectations for ourselves as a department and as coaches, expectations for student-athletes, and opportunities for all students to participate in our athletics programs. The remainder of the time will be spent giving parents the opportunity to ask any questions. The intention of these meetings is to talk with parents about our athletics vision for the future.

Have a great rest of the summer, and we hope to see you all in late July or August! Go Cougars!

Kind regards,
Pat Moyer
Director of Athletics
