Cannon School’s International Programs promote global awareness by broadening the experiences of students through travel, exchange, study, and service. They provide an avenue for thinking globally and acting locally, and develop a culture that encourages individual exchange and group travel.
Cannon School typically enrolls ten international students in the Upper School each year as part of our International Student Program. All of our international students are carefully screened and supported by well-established student placement agencies, each of which provide a local representative to support host families and the exchange student throughout the hosting experience. These students come to Cannon from a variety of countries and spend a year living with Cannon School families – getting a first-hand look at the American experience. For the 2013-2014 school year, we are still looking for host families for three students.
If you are not able to commit to hosting a student for a semester or an academic year, please consider being a “Welcome” family. Welcome families agree to host a student for the first week or two of school. This allows us to confirm with the students that they can book their flights to Charlotte and move forward with their plans to attend Cannon School.
If you or someone you know would like to be a Welcome Family, please contact Bill Diskin, director of admission and financial aid, by e-mail or at 704-721-7164 to learn more.
