The movie “The Hunger Games” recently opened with the biggest box-office debut outside the summer season. This summer, children ages 10-14 will be able to explore the land of Panem in a camp offered for the first time at Cannon School July 23-27.
“The Hunger Games” is a science fiction drama based on the young adult novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins.
“Sometimes reading a series as engaging as ‘The Hunger Games’ trilogy is enough to spark a lifelong love of reading,” said Audrey McLaughlin, a middle school teacher at Cannon School who will lead the camp. “I am excited to share my love of books and aspects of the movie with campers this summer.”
Boys and girls will explore the book series in the “Hungry for the Land of Panem” day camp, which will feature games and activities, including a feast featuring food from the book, and reading and writing. The campers should be familiar with the books prior to participating.
The three-hour camp session is offered in the afternoon, from 1-4 p.m. There is also before and after-camp care available.
