Athletic Results from Thursday, December 9


  • Eighth grade girls’ basketball team lost to the Charlotte Christian girls with a score of 33 to 11.  We did a much better job of breaking the press in the 2nd half.  We were out sized but put forth a great effort.  Every girl played significant minutes which gave everyone some game time experience.  Taylor Marks had 7 rebounds and 3 points.  Kendall Thomas had 4 points 4 rebounds and 3 steals.  Erin Norton led the team from the point position and had 2 points and 1 steal.  Anna Redding had 5 rebounds and played 4 different positions with confidence.  We have three practices before our next game which will give us time to tweek some things and come out ready to go next Wednesday against Holy Trinity.

 

  • The 8th grade boys’ basketball team lost to Charlotte Christian on Thursday 39-22Danny Brenner was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 10 points.  Steven Bennett chipped in 4 points.  The team was again set back by a poor first quarter, but the next three quarters were essentially even.

 

  • The 7th grade girls’ basketball team lost a hard fought game against Charlotte Christian yesterday evening. Charlotte Christian had a 5’11” center that created a lot of problems in the paint as she had numerous blocks. However, the Cougars defense created a lot of turnovers out of their 42 press. The Cougars played a great second half as the 42 press continued to cause turnovers but our shots were just not falling. We missed 8 free throws and numerous layups and bunnies. The Cougars were extremely vulnerable as a key starter was unable to play due to being sick.  Christina Stylianou led the Cougars with 4, Maya Sturgies added 3, and Jena Metwalli contributed 2. The Cougars will work hard at practice to work on all aspects of shooting as they play three home games in a row next week. The final score was 28-9.

 

  • The 7th grade boys’ basketball team started off slow against a very aggressive Charlotte Christian team.  Falling behind early and at the end of the first quarter the score was 24-10.  The Cougars kept fighting but couldn’t close the gap.  Losing to Christian 51 to 39.  The Cougars were lead by Andre Duhan who added 8 points.  The Cougars also had key efforts from Dominic Pelucio, Adam Clinard, and Ben Wyatt.
